The Indigenous Health Learning Lodge welcomes Kelly Gordon as Associate Director
We are pleased to announce that Kelly Gordon has accepted the role of Associate Director, Indigenous Health Learning Lodge within the Department of Education Services, reporting jointly to Diana Peci (Executive Director, Education Services) and Bernice Downey (Associate Dean, Indigenous Health). Kelly will be joining McMaster on Monday, November 25th.
In this role, Kelly will be responsible for the facilitation of a culturally relevant Indigenous health education strategy that recognizes and includes the diverse Indigenous cultures and communities served by the Faculty of Health Sciences. Kelly will be responsible for facilitating the Indigenous Health Strategic Plan and will collaborate to facilitate a harmonization of both roles in developing and implementing both internal and external strategic activities. Kelly will lead an established team to build an administrative capacity and engage with a wide range of internal and external community partners. Kelly brings over 20 years of experience as a community dietitian and more than ten years as an Indigenous Leader in various roles within community health and clinical services. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Science from McGill University and is a registered dietitian. In her most current role, she worked as the Portfolio Lead for Community Health & Wellness at Six Nations Health Services and recently began lecturing on Indigenous Food Systems at Toronto Metropolitan University.
Our team at the IHLL are looking forward to working with Kelly in her new role. We are also planning an in-person meet and greet activity in the near future where folks can join us in an official welcoming event.
